The Presence and The Body
Interactive installation (2008) - Paper, wood, mirror, plastic and electronic components
By redefining the essence of embodiment, "The Presence and The Body" is an extraction of the present phenomena. The interactivity applied within the installation addresses the missing piece in the theories of Minimalist sculpture movement in 1960-1970.
The electromagnetic ripple created when the viewers moving around the installation is measured and transform into the algorithm, then later displays in different form of paper strips cluster. The subtle up/down movement of paper strips and the algorithm created to conceal the direct interaction between viewer and the piece metaphorically represents a state of being-in-the-world.
As the being in the world, it is the probability of the world that gives us a sense of presence when we are in the state of uncertainty – waiting for the respond from the others, the situation or the world.
